Aloe Vera Mask

This weekend has been busy healing and beauty spa in my house for sure.  I  took a bath yesterday with Epson Salt, ACV and bubbles.  Then I did FIR Sauna for about 40 min; while in the sauna I did a coconut/Argan oil hair mask. Today I did a castor oil pack (if you want info on this let me know), I sauna again and I finished with this awesome mask.  Aloe vera is good for so many things, one of those great benefits  is healing and soothing.  I am not sure if I mentioned this before, but a few weeks ago I started to struggle with some breakouts on my forehead and I couldn’t figure out what was causing this.  Turns out I had added agave to my diet thinking this was a great idea, but this was the reason for my breakouts.  Now that is going away I still have some irritation and I am trying to heal it.  For that I am using Josie Maran Argan Oil Light and wow this product is amazing (I will review it soon).  So I have been trying to do some soothing homemade masks and today I decided to do this awesome aloe mask.

All you need is:

1. Aloe vera gel (about 5x2in)

2. 1 tbsp of raw honey

3. 1/2 lemon

Blend all ingredients and strain into a glass container.  You can save this in the fridge, preferably in a glass container; I am trying a BPA free squeeze bottle and I will let you know how that works out.

Leave on skin for 40 t0 60 min or prepare without lemon and leave overnight.

This will help with: acne and fine lines & it will soothe and moisturize skin.

1. What is your favourite shop?

I love to shop online because when the packages arrive it’s so much fun; but when I go to the mall I love to go to Aerie.  I’m a sucker for comfy undies and they have the best.
2. If you had to choose between lipstick and mascara, which would you pick?

You won’t believe when I say that I recently started to wear lipstick, I tried it a few times and wouldn’t make it out of the house.  My skin is so pale I though it didn’t look good on me, but lately I’ve become a little addicted. However I have to choose mascara over lipstick just because my eyelashes are so tiny 😦
3. Do you prefer to dress casually or dress up?

It depends on the occasion, but I have to say I rather dress casual.  I look cute on jeans.
4. What is your beauty bad habit?

I am embarrassed to say this but my beauty bad habit is falling asleep with my makeup on.   I don’t do it all the time, only when I get home really late and I feel lazy.

5. What is your favorite perfume?

Flower Bomb by Viktor&Rolf, I don’t bother buying anything else.  This scent is addictive and everyone complements me when I wear it.
6. What is your earliest beauty-related memory?

I don’t know if this would be considered a beauty memory, but when I was about 10 yrs old I asked my sister why she wore make up and told her I would never ever use it; and now I know that was a lie.
7. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

BRAZIL!!! I have never been there but I hope one day I can move there train Jiu Jitsue with the Gracies, learn Portuguese, and learn how to dance samba.
8. Do you prefer winter or summer beauty and fashion?

l don’t enjoy the snow, however I love to wear layers.  I have to say I prefer winter fashion because I love coats and boots, plus you can add so many accessories.
9. Is there anything you would love to do but haven’t yet?

Skydiving

10. Would you prefer to go out or have a quiet night in?

I love a quiet night in.  My perfect night would be a good home cooked meal, a glass of wine, and an awesome movie.

Oatmeal, Honey and Acidophilus Face Mask

Hi lovelies, its a snow day and since I am home I decided to do a face mask and try something new.  I have been saunaing almost every day and I think the detox process and the lack of hydration is making me breakout around my forehead.  So I tried a new mask today that is going to help calm my skin, exfoliate and help fight the bad bacteria. :

Here is what you will need:

1 Tablespoon of gluten free oatmeal

1 Teaspoon of organic raw honey

1 Tablespoon of hot water

1 Acidophilus capsule

If you have a magic bullet grind the oats to a fine powder.  Add water hot water and mix to get a thick pasty consistency; let this cool as heat might kill the nutrients in the raw honey and the bacteria in the acidophilus.  Add honey and the entire contents of the acidophilus capsule.  Mix well again and apply to clean and dry skin.  Leave on skin for 10 to 15 minutes.  Remove with a damp towel using warm water (filtered would be best).

Yes this is a messy mask but it was worth it so far.  The oatmeal helped calm my skin and also exfoliated.  The reason I decided to add acidophilus is due to the acne.  Acidophilus helps balance the bacteria in your skin; skin is always exposed to harmful bacteria, free radicals and allergens and by applying probiotics the good bacteria will fight the bad bacteria.  As for honey as I mention on my homemade face scrub/mask post honey has many benefits; it contains antioxidants, clarifying, moisturizing, and antibacterial properties which help with impurities and breakouts.  Make sure you use organic raw honey instead of regular honey.  Regular honey goes through a pasteurization process and its exposed to high temperatures; during this process most of the best nutrients we can benefit from are lost, such as acidophilus.

I left the mask for 10 minutes and I could feel it working; 30 minutes after I removed it I could already tell it had done something good to my skin; not only its soft and clean, but the areas with the acne are not longer so sensitive to the touch.  It truly calmed down the inflammation.

Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée

I wish someone had warned me about Josie Maran products being addictive.  This Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée is nothing but amazing.  I love the way it feels while I am applying it; it so refreshing on my skin, moisturizing, easy to apply, and natural that I don’t think I would mind having every single color.  I know this is a blush, but after using a lip moisturizer I like to dab a little of this product to give my lips color and they look so good.  So in my eyes I have a versatile product which makes it really affordable.  I have Poppy Paradise and I will soon be adding more colors to my makeup bag

Beauty from the inside out! Stay hydrated no matter the time of the year. Here is what you will need:

1. 1/2 teaspoon of raw honey or Agave (I prefer organic)

2. The juice of 1/2 lemon and 1/2 lemon sliced thinly

3. Mint leaves

4. 1 tablespoon of hydrated chia seeds

5. Filtered water

6. And if you can a BPA-free bottle.

Not only this tastes great but it’s super healthy and it will show in your skin because it also detoxes the blood and helps your digestive system.  Don’t let your body get thirsty; chia seeds are high in omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, minerals, and help you stay hydrated.  If you want to hydrate your chia seeds add hot water to a tablespoon of seeds and let them absorb the water.  Why mint? I could probably write to many things about mint; who doesn’t love mojitos! Mint is great for your digestive system, acne, weight loss, and even for memory; the best thing about adding mint to your water is the refreshing taste.  Lemons are great detoxifiers; they also aid weight loss, acne, fatigue, digestion and restore your pH balance.

So add all of these ingredients to about 16oz of water, I like to be generous with my mint so I add about 5 to 10 leaves per serving.  The best part about this drink is that if you are on the go you can take it with you and refill it with more plain water; the mint leaves and the lemon slices with keep your water alive.  ENJOY!!!
